The widow of a state roads inspector who was killed by a concrete truck in 2006 has settled her lawsuit against the hauler she blamed for his death.
Robin Crabtree, of Madrid, reached the agreement with Norwalk Ready-Mix Concrete Inc. last week, according to Polk County court records.
Crabtree’s lawsuit alleged that the company did not follow proper safety procedures when one of its concrete truck drivers backed over Gary Crabtree in downtown Des Moines.

Crabtree, a technician with the Iowa Department of Transportation, was working along the Seventh Street ramp on Interstate Highway 235 in December 2006 when the truck’s rear wheels rolled over him.
The driver, Elvis Mrzljak of Johnston, was not charged and was not named in the lawsuit.
Crabtree’s lawyer, Mark Pennington of Des Moines, said a confidentiality agreement prevented him from releasing details of the settlement.
